I examine histories of Black women's wellness and empowerment in memoir and autobiography. Specifically, I assess legacies of humanities, health, and human rights through Black women's intellectual history. My study of life writing posits how personal power and narrative wellness (memoirs about healthy mind, body, and spirit) can reinforce and advance social justice. Grounded in Black studies, women's studies, and history, my work is inherently interdisciplinary.
