Since 1998, I have learned, taught, and researched community building in higher education. At CSULB, Stanford, UMass-Amherst, Brown, UF, CAU, and GSU, I have partnered with local or national organizations to produce public scholarship, particularly about African American women and self-care, mental health, and wellness. Also, as a department chair for 12 consecutive years at UF (2010), CAU (2011-2019), and GSU (2019-2021), I've worked to create community in my units and on campus.
